The police on Monday averted another blast in Kano, barely 12 hours after a bomb explosion killed about five persons at a hotel in the Sabon-Gari area of the ancient city.
Police operatives, acting on intelligence, said they tracked and recovered an ash colour Mitsubishi Station Wagon car, with Kano number plate AE 756 GSW, loaded with assorted gas cylinders, one container of fuel and other electrical components for Improvised Explosive Devices.
The vehicle was recovered at Tafawa Balewa Street in the Nasarawa area of Kano State and has since been rendered safe by police bomb disposal experts.
A statement by the Force Public Relations Officer, Frank Mba, in Abuja said security agencies in Kano had commenced investigation into both the aborted blast as well as the Sunday night bomb incident.
The statement stated that while commiserating with the families and friends of the victims of the blast, the Inspector-General of Police, Mohammed Abubakar, called for the cooperation of all in the fight against terrorism.
“He promised that the law enforcement agencies will continue to do their best towards winning the ongoing war against terrorism,” the statement added.
