I was so surprised that Nigeria was no where to be found among this list.
See list below:
1 Somalia
Somalia ties with two other countries as the most corrupt nation in the world, an honor few are ever lucky to claim. This war torn African nation sees far too many of its leaders exploit the uneducated masses by monopolizing the nation's natural resources.
2 Libya
This north African nation with a largely Islamic population has seen political unrest and global scrutiny within the past few years, and it is for good reason. Human rights violations and atrocities were committed under the fallen regime, and such profound corruption never goes away quickly.
3 South Sudan
Sudan's neighbor to the South shares many of the same natural riches and all of the same problems that come with these blessings. Wealth brings a power struggle, and integrity has fallen by the wayside in many African nations where leaders are too often blinded by dollar signs.
4 Sudan
Sudan has the dishonor of being the fourth most corrupt country in the world, known for its immense raw resources and systemic corruption and social unrest. The global community often wonders if Africa will ever see leaders who consistently look out for the interests of their people without reaching in the cookie jar, but this list does not present much optimism.
5 Afghanistan
It is a shame to see the country America helped to liberate and still occupies has not been able to rid itself of the corruption seen pre-war. It remains tied with two others as the most corrupt country in the world in spite of the United States' best efforts to reform the local government.
6 North Korea
This isolationist country has shut itself off from the world, crippling its economy as a result of practically nonexistent trade and starving its own people in the process. Government leaders live like fat kings while the vast majority of the country struggles to scratch by, cut off from internet, any global news, and any semblance of progress.
7 Iraq
The country previously under the destructive watch of Saddam Hussein has not seen the rapid rise of pure Democracy as America anticipated, as corruption is rampant and government officials often quarrel and quibble instead of improving the country's issues. Maybe they did get Democracy after all.
8 Turkmenistan
The eighth most corrupt country in the world is Turkmenistan. What do you expect to happen when you elect Borat as your President? Ok, that may not be true.
9 Syria
President Bashar al-Assad gets a lot of flack for using chemical weapons on his own people, and rightfully so. His ruthless actions just show how far leaders are willing to go not to lose their country club membership at the hands of some pesky rebels.
10 Uzbekistan
The 10th most corrupt country in the world is home to some of the most out-there fashion senses you will find on the globe, and it is no wonder leaders cannot help from double dipping from the country's reserves. In Uzbekistan if you want to be somebody you better have the nicest robe game in the land, and as you can see these people do not slouch when it comes to their robes.
